We started first grade on September 2nd and had a great first week. Clarity began her exploration of the consonants this week and we managed to cover M, G, J, and D. All the consonants are introduced through story and "hidden letter" drawings (hence the various chalkboard drawings). Once we have worked with the story and letter sounds for a few days, that letter will be "put to sleep" for one month and then we will re-awaken them by using them in more varied and complex ways. Eventually this will lead to reading. This year we have a lot of fun new things to work with and new skills to learn, stay tuned!
