While we were visiting Tuscon Arizona we got to learn about the land and people of the Sonoran desert. There is a big local food movement there and so it was fun to try some new traditional foods (chiltepin peppers, lots of cactus fruits). We managed to identify a lot of different cactus and decided we like the Cholla cactus fruit the best (kind of tastes like strawberries). Clarity got to hear lots of Spanish and we definitely came back with an appreciation for all the water we have in Alaska.
