This month was a math block so we did lots of number work. We started off introducing the four processes. One of the wonders of Waldorf inspired learning is the way they present material. All the processes are introduced as characters with moral qualities (minus is a sharing, division is about equality and fairness, etc). We have a story for each process and then we make up scenarios where the processes can work together (multiplication to makes lots seeds and then division to divide them among the farmers). We started working with "number sentences" (or equations) and ended the month reviewing greater/less than and odd and even. Place values (ones, tens, hundreds) are challenging for Clarity but I have been trying to come up with new manipulatives to let her see the differences. We'll do one more math block before the end of the year.
